 | Lova Lava Land Eco-Resort is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure in staying in creative, off-grid, green accommodations! Our 3 acre property is designed as a fun learning experience about life on an old lava field - full of beautiful shady ohia trees, ocean views (of the USA's southernmost point), private areas for each rental, & outdoor communal areas great for socializing & relaxing. | | We offer a beautifully decorated yurt & several renovated Volkswagen camper buses as sleeping accommodations. For communal use is the: outdoor shower built with lava, palm-shaded communal kitchen, lava rock grill with picnic area, free wireless Internet, bamboo decorated flushing compost toilet, & more! | | Whether you are looking for an adventure vacation in paradise, an education in living a more eco-friendly life, or a longer term place to explore the island from, we can promise this isn't just a place to stay - it's an experience! Expect something like camping in more comfort than a tent - but be pleasantly surprised when it is MUCH MORE! | | Take a walking tour to learn about local flora, fauna, & how we have created comfortable off-grid green systems. Relax in your rental's private area - each accommodation has its own area complete with a swing or hammock. Play Coconut Bocce Ball in our new eco-games area! Save your budget & health by buying local organic food & cooking here! |

Location & Transportation |

Our unique location is about 1500 feet above sea level, on one of the largest mountains in the world, Mauna Loa. We feel the weather is ideal compared to other options - you don't get the non-stop sweltering heat that cities like Kailua-Kona and other west coast cities get (although it is nice and sunny most of the time, with passing clouds). Also, you don't get the non-stop rain and humidity of Hilo and Pahoa. Rather, the climate is mostly dry allowing for comfortable outdoor living. The nights cool off nicely so sleeping is comfy with a sleeping bag or comforter. There are passing winds, but nothing like that in the neighboring towns of South Point, Naalehu, or Punaluu.
The town of Ocean View is a small country town and very colorful community full of adventurous souls (and hippies) that love the peacefulness and community-nature of living off-the-grid on an old lava field. You won't find friendlier people anywhere as it's almost rude not to wave at every car you pass on the road. The town has a weekly swap meet and often has local concerts, plays, and other community activities open to the public. Ocean View is 45 miles from Kailua-Kona and 80 miles from Hilo off the main highway on the island, Hwy 11. | | Directions | To protect the privacy of our guests, we do not release exact directions until booking is made and paid. In general, we are located in the Kau district of the Big Island in the town of Ocean View. A wonderful climate (not to hot, not too rainy) that is perfect for enjoying the outdoors! | | Transportation | A free local bus (with limited schedule) will get you from the airport to walking distance of our property. We suggest renting a car to allow you more freedom to explore. | | Airport | Kona, 45 miles |
